Certified Six Sigma Yellow Belt (CSSYB)

Certified Six Sigma Trainer (CSST)

Registered members of the above qualifications can put their designated titles i.e. CSSYB, CSSGB, CSSBB, CSSMBB, CSSC, or/and CSST on their name cards to show their professional status.

Certified Six Sigma Yellow Belt (CSSYB)

 The Certified Six Sigma Yellow Belt has a basic knowledge of Six Sigma, but does not lead projects on their own. The Yellow Belt participates as a core team member or subject matter expert (SME) on a project or projects. In addition, Yellow Belts may often be responsible for running smaller process improvement projects.  These smaller Yellow Belt projects often get escalated to the Green Belt or Black Belt level where a DMAIC methodology is used to maximize cost savings.

  • In order to obtain the certification, each candidate should
    1. pass a written examination (within context of BOK) that is a one-hour exam consisting of 20 multiple choice questions.  It is offered in either English or Chinese language.  Examination is open-book.  Each participant must bring his or her own reference materials.
    2. For candidate who has passed the Six Sigma Yellow Belt examination conducted by other organizations through in-house or public trainings, he/she can apply for exemption of written examination.

Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB)

The Certified Six Sigma Green Belt is a professional, who in support of or under the supervision of a Six Sigma Black Belt, analyzes and solves quality problems as well as involved in improvement projects.

A Six Sigma Green Belt should have at least one year of working experience.   

  • In order to obtain the certification, each candidate should
    1. submit a project affidavit with project document showing the application of the Six Sigma Tools in one of his/her projects in which he/she was either a leader or a member (of a group of maximum 6) within the year of examination and
    2. pass a written examination (within context of BOK) that consists of multiple choice questions that measure comprehension of the Body of Knowledge.  The Six Sigma Green Belt Certification is a 2-hour, 60 multiple-choice question examination.  It is offered in either English or Chinese language.  Examination is open-book.  Each participant must bring his or her own reference materials or
    3. pass a consolidated written examination (within context of BOK of Six Sigma Green Belt & within context of BOK of Lean Leader) that consists of multiple choice questions that measure comprehension of the Body of Knowledge.  This consolidated examination is for candidate who would like to attend the written examinations of Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean Leader at the same time.  The consolidated examination is a 2.5-hour, 90 multiple-choice question examination.  It is offered in either English or Chinese language.  Examination is open-book.  Each participant must bring his or her own reference materials. 

    4. For candidate who has passed the Six Sigma Green Belt examination conducted by other organizations, he/she can apply for exemption of point 2 above, i.e. the written examinationDetails of the syllabus, number of contact hours and exam result should be submitted for application of exemption.

Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB)

The Certified Six Sigma Black Belt is a professional who can explain Six Sigma philosophies and principles, including supporting systems and tools. The Black Belt should demonstrate team leadership, understand team dynamics, and assign team member roles and responsibilities. They have a thorough understanding of and can use all aspects of the DMAIC model in accordance with Six Sigma principles.

Six Sigma Black Belt requires three years of working experience

  • In order to obtain the certification, each candidate should
    1. pass the project assessment of Examination Board on meeting the level of Black Belt qualification by submitting a project affidavit and project document showing the application of the Six Sigma Tools in one of his/her projects in which he/she was a leader within the year of examination and attending a 30-minutes presentation session+ 30-minutes Q&A oral exam in front of two examiners, and
      • pass a written examination (within context of BOK) that consists of multiple choice questions that measure comprehension of the Body of Knowledge.  The Six Sigma Black Belt Certification is a 3-hour, 120 multiple-choice question examination.  It is offered in either English or Chinese language.  Examination is open-book.  Each participant must bring his or her own reference materials.
        • For candidate who has passed the Six Sigma Black Belt examination conducted by other organizations, he/she can apply for exemption of point 2 above, i.e. the written examination.  Details of the syllabus, number of contact hours and exam result should be submitted for application of exemption

Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt (CSSMBB)

The Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt is a teacher and a leader.  As a leader, the MBB will have responsibility for overseeing projects with multiple Black Belt and Green Belt participation that will significantly change the way the organization does business.  As a teacher, the MBB is responsible for the on-going development of existing Black Belts as well as the development of new ones. 

Six Sigma Master Black Belt should be an ISSC Certified Six Sigma Black Belt who have led and completed at least 4 projects effecting an increase/recover of revenue or reduction/avoidance of operation cost of at least HK$1 million for the organization(s). 

  • In order to obtain the certification, each candidate should
    1. submit a project affidavit and project document showing the result of his/her 4 projects within 2 years of examination.
    2. have conducted 2 waves of Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt/Champion trainings and achieve a grade of "good" or above on evaluation of trainer completed by participants
    3. have coached at least 5 Six Sigma professionals and achieve a grade of "good" or above on evaluation of both technical and coaching skills of the coacher completed by these Six Sigma professionals
    4. pass the assessment of Examination Board by attending a one-and-a-half hour interview (45-minutes presentation of the projects experience and 45-minutes of oral exam on the MBB competency skills (within context of BOK))

Certified Six Sigma Champion (CSSC)

The Certified Six Sigma Champion is able to identify potential projects, select the ones with the best potential for success, foresee potential project obstacles and set realistic expectations that ultimately drive financial results. 

Six Sigma Champion requires three years of working experience

  • In order to obtain the certification, each candidate should
    1. have completed a Six Sigma Champion Training course covering 80% or above of Body of Knowlege of Six Sigma Champion
    2. pass a written examination (within context of BOK) that consists of multiple choice questions that measure comprehension of the Body of Knowledge.  The Six Sigma Champion Certification is a 2-hour, 30 multiple-choice question examination.  It is offered in either English or Chinese language.  Examination is open-book.  Each participant must bring his or her own reference materials.  
    3. For candidate who has passed the Six Sigma Champion examination conducted by other organizations through in-house or public trainings, he/she can apply for exemption.  Details of the syllabus, number of contact hours and exam result should be submitted for application of exemption

 Certified Six Sigma Trainer (CSST)

The Certified Six Sigma Trainer is a teacher and a practitioner.  As a teacher, the Six Sigma Trainer is responsible for the on-going development of Six Sigma professionals.  As a practitioner, the Six Sigma Trainer analyzes and solves quality problems using Six Sigma tools and methodologies.

There are different levels of Six Sigma Trainers:

Six Sigma Trainer (Grade A) - Black Belt Trainer (Management)

  • In order to obtain the certification, each candidate should
    • be an ISSC Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt
      • have conducted at least 3 waves of Black Belt Trainings majoring in Management (non-statistics) and achieve a grade of "good" or above on evaluation of trainer completed by participants
        • pass the assessment of Examination Board by conducting a 30-minutes Six Sigma lecture in front of the Examination Board on topics selected by the Examination Board and will be given to the candidate 24 hours before the exam

      Six Sigma Trainer (Grade A) - Black Belt Trainer (Statistics)

      • In order to obtain the certification, each candidate should
        • be an ISSC Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt
          • have conducted at least 3 waves of Black Belt Trainings majoring in Statistics and achieve a grade of "good" or above on evaluation of trainer completed by participants
            • pass the assessment of Examination Board by conducting a 30-minutes Six Sigma lecture on topics selected by the Examination Board and will be given to the candidate 24 hours before the exam

           Six Sigma Trainer (Grade B) - Green Belt Trainer

          • In order to obtain the certification, each candidate should
            • be an ISSC Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
              • have conducted at least 3 waves of Green Belt/Black Belt Trainings and achieve a grade of "good" or above on evaluation of trainer completed by participants
                • pass the assessment of Examination Board by conducting a 30-minutes Six Sigma lecture on topics selected by the Examination Board and will be given to the candidate 24 hours before the exam

              Six Sigma Trainer (Grade C) - Yellow Belt Trainer

              • In order to obtain the certification, each candidate should
                • be an ISSC Certified Six Sigma Green Belt
                • have conducted at least 3 waves of Yellow Belt/Six Sigma Awareness Trainings and achieve a grade of "good" or above on evaluation of trainer completed by participants
                • pass the assessment of Examination Board by conducting a 20-minutes Six Sigma lecture on topics selected by the Examination Board and will be given to the candidate 24 hours before the exam
